UPDATE: please visit the beautiful page put together by one of Bryan's friends, at http://bryan-jensen.last-memories.com.

The following e-mail was sent to everyone on the Food At First mailing list (updated information below - please scroll down if you've already seen this message...)

Dear Friends of Food At First,

It is with profound sadness that I'm writing to let you know that one of our most beloved Head Chefs, Bryan Jensen, was killed in a car crash early this morning.

Very few details are known at this time - the following link...

... may be updated with more recent information.

If you had the occasion to work with Bryan, you know what an incredible guy he was - he had SUCH a passion for Food At First, speaking of it often as the highlight of his week (he most often led the Sunday night meals, though helped in numerous other ways, and stepped in whenever and wherever he was needed.)

There will be more information to follow, including how Bryan's FAF friends might be able to help his family, and funeral/memorial arrangements - if you'd like to hear about them, please REPLY to this e-mail - I don't want to keep sending e-mails to those who (unfortunately) didn't get the chance to know and love Bryan.

Though we'll miss him profoundly, I hear his voice in my head, with that phrase he loved so much...  "it's all good..."

Coordinator, Food At First meal program

The funeral will be at Bacon Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Parkway, in Nevada) at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 3rd.  The visitation is Friday, from 7 to 8:30 PM, at the same location.  The Nevada Annual Bike Ride is on Saturday at 10 AM as well, so if you're planning to attend, please leave a little extra time to get around the bicyclists.

There is an article in the Ames Tribune, and a map with the funeral home is available here.  Memorials will be donated to the Iowa City Hospital, and flowers are welcome.

If you would like to share any thoughts about Bryan, or ask any questions, please feel free to e-mail scott@FoodAtFirst.com.  This page will be updated as new information is available, so please feel free to check back at any time.

Thanks...
Scott
